Foundations of Modern Psychology
This module offers an introduction to psychology as a whole, reviewing the main approaches to thinking about and researching human behaviour. Explore key theories and approaches in psychology and how these are applied in everyday life.

Social Psychology
Social psychologists attempt to explain human behaviour in a social context, for example: how we form impressions of others; who we are attracted to; how our attitudes are shaped; and the influence of crowds and groups on individual behaviour. This module is open to everyone interested in the subject, but it will be of particular interest if you have to deal with customers, clients, colleagues, patients, teams or the public.

Understanding Mental Health
Examine current conceptions and models of abnormality. Discuss characteristics of mental disorders, such as schizophrenia, phobias and depression, and approaches to therapy and treatment. This module will interest people working in the caring professions or with a general interest in mental health.

Psychology of Learning and Learning Styles
Drawing on a range of theories within psychology, this module explores the question of how adult students learn. Psychological studies have much to say about those factors within the individual adult and their environment that affect learning. We will explore the implications of these and their relationship to the huge body of literature that now exists on learning styles.
