College Suspension

Letter from the Warden

Dear Mary Warder

We are sending you this letter to update you on what is happening at Mary Ward Centre.

Face to face teaching continues to be suspended but we are moving some courses online. We have been contacting groups of students and gathering your views on an online alternative to the course you were planning to take with us during the summer term. Online courses will begin to be released over the next few weeks and we will work to keep you up-to-date with the courses you might be interested in. All of our online summer term offer will be available to browse on our website.  The first of these will be from the week beginning 11th May and we will reopen online enrolment soon.

Our online offer is not as extensive as our normal courses offer. The loss of courses in the summer term has had a significant financial impact on the Centre and we have had to take some difficult decisions including furloughing some of our staff and reducing the course offer for the summer term. However, we hope that you will find something of interest. We may be able to welcome many of you back to Queen Square in the new academic year, but we are also working hard on developing more online options and planning for classes with social distancing in place, to ensure we can offer as much as possible.

For those of you who had already enrolled on courses in term 3 we have converted your payment to a credit note that you will be able to use to enrol on any of the summer term online courses or use next year on any course you wish to join. If you have never tried online learning before we will provide instruction and support to help you access what you need to get going.

To enrol on a summer term on line courses using a credit note please email onlinecourses@marywardcentre.ac.uk  giving you name, address, a contact telephone number and the title of the course you would like to join.

If you are not happy with the credit note and need a refund please email refundrequest@marywardcentre.ac.uk.  These refunds will inevitably take longer than expected due to the restrictions on access to the building by staff so please bear with us.

If you prefer you can donate your fee to the centre.

We hope you are all safe and well.

Suzanna Jackson
