Basic Literacy For ESOL (Beginners)
If your reading and writing skills need work then these are the right courses for you. These courses are for ESOL students who want to develop their literacy skills. You will learn how to write your name and address, read and write everyday words and build your literacy skills even if you cant read or write in your own language.
Who is this course for
This course is for people who are learning to speak, read and write in English, some might not be able to read and write in their own language.
What does this course cover
Learn to read and write your name, address and common words. Learn to write the different letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make. Start to read short texts. Recognise and use simple punctuation e.g. fulls stops and capital letters.
What will it be like
There will be group and pair work to support students with their learning. Lots of work will be individualised.
What else do you need to buy or do
Bring a file, pen and paper.
What this course could lead to
As a student becomes more able to read and write in English it might be possible to enter ESB Entry 1 reading or writing exams or even move into Entry 1 classes.
