Business Administration: Essentials for Work

Are you looking to get into the office environment work?
Do you want to improve your skills in Business Administration and increase your employability?
This course is aimed at students with some experince in business adminstartion, to reinforce all the skills you need to enter into an office environment and administration.

The class will take place at Blackfriars Settlement, 1 Rushworth Street, London SE1 ORB
This a new Mary Ward Centre location and is a short walk from Southwark Tube Station.

Who is this course for

This course is aimed at anyone looking to start the first step in any business or office environment. This course will help students:
Who are looking to start the first step in any business or office environment
Who are new to an administrative
Who wish to learn the skills required to work in an administrative job.
Who wish to set up their own businesses, or launch small enterprises in the future.

Students do not need to have any previous experience of office skills but are required to have a good level of English (Level 1). Some basic computer skills are preferred.

What does this course cover

This course provides an opportunity for guided 'hands-on' experience of office skills including:
o What skills and are knowledge are need for office administration.
o Equipment and computer programs and application.
o File management.
o Writing a business letter and email and email options.
o Answering the phone and taking messages.
o Use social media for promoting and advertising
o How to priorities work.
o Agenda and meeting organisation
o Time management.
o Accounting and expenses schedule.
o Small Businesses Opportunities for 2018/2019
o marketing essentials
o Customer care essentials.
On completion of the course, students should be able to know what office equipment they need to use, basic filing (both electronic and manual), write a business letter and email, and understand the key skills and functions for an administration job, provide a small business action plan, using the social media for promoting and advertising, organise meetings and timetables.
Students can move on to studying a qualification: Business Administration Level 1

What will it be like

The course is fully taught with practical tasks to complete on the computer and manually both individually and in groups. Activities will include demonstrations, examples and discussions.
There will be ongoing monitoring of students' work including questions, observations and tasks. Achievement tick sheet and start and end of class student self-assessment.

What else do you need to buy or do

Materials are supplied free of charge by the Centre.
As much practice as possible to reinforce learning. This may be at home or elsewhere or from homework given by the tutor.

What extra study/practice we expect you to do outside the class
