This is a slow-paced meditative yoga class that will focus mostly on laying down and sitting positions. The asanas are held for longer periods in order to apply moderate stress to the connective tissue of the body, the tendons, fascia, and ligaments to increase circulation in the joints, improving flexibility. This class offers a restorative approach to yoga.
Who is this course for
This is a mixed ability class ideal for those who look for a more gentle type of yoga regardless their fitness levels. Students should be able to do exercise sitting on the floor, kneeling and lying down.
What does this course cover
Students will be able to perform deep stretches with emphasis on realigning the spine, they will also learn concentration, cleansing and breathing techniques
What will it be like
Students will receive regular feedback from the tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. The instructor will monitor student's improvement on their range of movement, breathing quality and concentration techniques. The instructor will occasionally give students handouts with simple exercise routines to practice at home.
What else do you need to buy or do
Students will need loose clothing and be comfortable exercising barefoot. Students should avoid eating two hours prior to exercising.
What this course could lead to
Students might choose to repeat this course or progress towards more dynamic Yoga classes.
