Connecting To Others In Meaningful Ways

Rediscover your communication skills, especially after lockdown. Use not just words but all your senses to engage more fully with others. Build awareness of body language, facial gestures and subtle voice clues. The day will be fun, interactive and aimed at building your skills at connecting with others in ways that makes people feel not just listened to but special again.

Who is this course for

For anyone who wants to build livelier conversations, and have more productive meetings with friends, colleagues, lovers. The idea is that we learn about how we interact with others using our different senses and listen to people in a meaningful way that makes them feel good about themselves.

What does this course cover

Becoming aware of our listening and thinking behaviour patterns;
Defining the ten components of Listening well to other people;
Using incisive questions to clarify meaning.
Taking turns and Listening well so that others can think more clearly in our presence.

By the end of the course you should be able to:

Identify blocks to giving respectful attention to others
Notice visual, auditory and kinaesthetic body language cues
List at least three of the ten components of Listening Well
Devise incisive question to help people move their thinking on

What will it be like

Experiential: Participants work with their own work or life situations. Whole class teaching, small group activities, practical exercises and discussion topics. You will be encouraged to apply the skills learned on this course to your work and life.

Participants are encouraged to set an outcome for the day and to use tools as a framework for achieving it.

What else do you need to buy or do

Notebook pen and water would be useful. Come with a spirit of curiosity.

Outside the class we would like you to integrate the new strategies into your everyday life, communications and engaging with others.
