Event Management

Get started in event management or gain the skills to use in your current career. This course starts with an overview and goes on to look at the different types of event, the common features that exist and the impact of size and complexity. The course will look at the role of the event manager in establishing the market for, and the objectives of, an event, identifying the key stakeholders, event location, costings and pricing. The role of event manager in recruiting and running an event management team will also be explored along with the management of risk and the common challenges that come with event management and how to deal with these challenges.

Please note that these courses will take place at Blackfriars Settlement, 1 Rushworth Street, London SE1 ORB. This a new Mary Ward Centre location and is a short walk from Southwark Tube Station.

What does this course cover

This course starts with an overview and goes on to look at the different types of event, the common features that exist and the impact of size and complexity. The course will look at the role of the event manager in establishing the market for, and the objectives of, an event, identifying the key stakeholders, event location, costings and pricing. What will it be like

Demonstration using Smartboard through computer-linked projectors, exposition and discussion. One-to-one and group work. Students will produce a portfolio of work during the course to be assessed and verified in order to achieve the qualification.
Diagrams. One-to-one teaching. Group discussions
Learning methods: Hands-on practical activities, Reading handouts and following instructions.
One-to-one and group discussion.
How students are assessed: Questions and answers during group discussions and one-to-one teaching.
Record of students' progress and achievement on an assessment sheet as they achieve the course objectives. Practical work produced is evidence of learning.

Learning materials are supplied on the course. Students might find a flash drive useful.
