Exploring Decoupage

Find about the range of decoupage styles and techniques and spend the day covering a range of
objects including boxes, bowls and 3D forms. A fun and creative day and suitable for all levels.

Who is this course for

This is an introductory course open to all students who are interested in exploring the art of Decoupage. No previous experience necessary.

What does this course cover

This course is a fun and practical introduction to the art of decoupage.
The course will begin by learning about different decoupage materials, styles and techniques.
Students will then move on to working on 2-3 small set projects, starting with a 2D decoupage project and moving on to decoupage 3D project in the afternoon. We will explore colour, form, design, decoration and techniques through these projects
Students will be given visual demonstrations and step by step instructions, before choosing their projects to complete during the day.
By the end of the course they should be able to complete a basic decoupage projects and have a clear understanding of what materials to use.

What will it be like

This is a practical course, where students will be taught techniques using examples, demonstrations and step by step instructions.
The tutor will set clear projects to complete using visual and verbal instruction. She will give one to one support where needed and individual advice throughout the session. She will assess your progress through the work produced.

What else do you need to buy or do

All materials provided. Students are not expected to buy or bring anything to the course. But if you have any decoupage papers, a small project or idea of something you would like to decoupage, you can bring it with you.

What this course could lead to

The course can lead to learning different creative techniques through attending short courses at The Mary Ward Centre - including collage, printmaking and painting and drawing
Students can also attend other creative courses at different venues in the community.
