Floristry Techniques: Improvers/Projects
Build on your skills and develop personal projects using more exotic materials. The course includes a trip to a flower market.
Who is this course for
Anyone who has attended beginners floristry and wants to learn more advanced techniques or work more independently with the support of a tutor.
You will need to have some dexterity in your hands and fingers, however addititional support is available if required - please contact the department on 020 7269 6043 for advice.
What does this course cover
You will practice a more advanced range of traditional, contemporary and experimental techniques in floral design and create arrangements and sculptures for different occassions, seasons, friends and family or just for pleasure.
You will also learn about the other materials you'll need for floristry and safe working practices.
What will it be like
Practical arranging and designing in class
One-to-one support and feedback from the tutor
Group work and discussion
Advice on photography and compiling a portfolio
What else do you need to buy or do
From week 2 you will need to buy your own flowers and foliage - the tutor will advise you on the types of flowers and foliage to purchase each week and where to do this at a reasonable cost.
What this course could lead to
A longer accreddited course at another college or selling your floral designs/artwork. Another creative course at the Mary Ward Centre.
