For those with some experience of working with fused glass. Develop ideas and learn new skills.
Who is this course for
This course is suitable for those with some glass experience who want to develop their skills in glass fusing.
Students should be able to cut glass confidently and the course will also include some design work and technical note keeping.
What does this course cover
Students will be able to pursue their own projects with tutor support and further develop techniques learnt in the introduction to glass course. Projects will be set in the first half of the course.
By the end of the course you should:
1. Have a basic understanding of fusing and slumping techniques.
2. Demonstrate how to safely cut glass.
3. Develop an awareness of contemporary Glass Design and demonstrate the ability to constructively criticise their work and that of others.
What will it be like
The course consists of demonstrations, slide discussions of contextual work, one to one support and group tutorials.
Assessment is continual and based on progress and tutor observations. One to one support will be given to identify goals and set targets.
Group tutorials will allow us to assess our continual progression.
At the end of the course we will set our work out in the studio to discuss as a group.
What else do you need to buy or do
All materials for learning will be supplied. Students will then need to buy glass for their own projects.
1. Look for inspiration, make notes of ideas for development or themes to work on.
2. Look for visual reference to support ideas.
