Herbal Medicine For Healthy Heart, Cardiovascular And Respiratory Systems
An introduction to the Heart, Cardiovascular System and the Respiratory System. For each system we will look at the anatomy - form and function - and how we can work with medicinal plants, diet and lifestyle that can be useful to support these systems and our general wellbeing. Topics will include strategies for managing blood pressure and healthy blood vessels & Cholesterol plus herbs that have an affinity for the Respiratory system to support people with chronic sinus problems, bronchitis & asthma.
Who is this course for
For the who have some background knowledge of working with medicinal plants in tea form - infusions and decoctions. Some previous experience of attending herbal workshops or courses is desirable.
What does this course cover
A brief look at the anatomy of the cardiovascular system (CVS). Common conditions that the heart and CVS health, e.g. We will look at strategies for managing blood pressure and healthy blood vessels; Cholesterol; Atherosclerosis.
How to support your respiratory system and choose an appropriate supportive medicinal plant.
Recommendations for supportive nutrition and useful herbs for both the CVS and Respiratory systems
Students should be able to choose an appropriate herb for one specific complaint of CVS or RS and be able to describe how to make a simple herbal preparation by the end of the course.
What will it be like
The methods of teaching and learning include formal teaching, questions and answers, brainstorming, discussion, group and pair work and some individual work.
A handouts will be provided at the end of the session.
Students are assessed informally through observation, their level of questioning and an-swering, and through feedback.

A cup for tea tasting, a herbal reference book, notebook & pen

Student's may be interested in other herbal medicine and body systems courses being offered at the centre. Diet and Nutrition and other complementary health courses are also available
