This course is for students who have already done an introductory course in massage and wish to build on their knowledge, practice their skills and learn how to safely and effectively blend and incorporate essential oils into their massage.Please
bring two large towels and two hand towels and a
small bowl for your oil blending.

This course is for students who have already done an introductory course in massage and wish to build on their knowledge, practice their skills and learn how to effectively and safely incorporate essential oils into their massage.
Please note: Massage with essential oils is generally safe for everyone but there are conditions when it is not suitable, such as during pregnancy. Check with a health professional if you have any health concerns.

Safety considerations for massage and essential oils
History of Aromatherapy
The art of blending
Massage techniques for the Back / Face & head / Neck and shoulders / Arms and legs
Benefits and uses of:
12 essential oils, 4 carrier oils
Alternative uses of essential oils
Main Outcomes: Define the safety guidelines for massage and essential oils
Understanding contraindications to massage and essential oils
Safely demonstrate a full body massage
Prepare a variety of essential oil blends taking into consideration their properties and scent note.
What will it be like
Theory teaching methods include:
Lecture / PowerPoint presentation / group work / discussion / questions and answers / self- assessment test
Practical: Students will prepare their own essential oil blend for each session and work in pairs massaging each other, facilitated by the tutor verbally, through demonstration and direct hands-on instructions.

At the start you will be ask to complete a:

On the course: You will receive regular verbal feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate.
At the end: You will be ask to complete a course evaluation form.
What else do you need to buy or do
2 large Bath sheets; 4 hand towels; Antiseptic wetwipes or handgel; pocket tissues; Massage oil

Students can enrol on further complementary therapies such as Aromatherapy, Indian Head massage, Alexander technique, Herbalism, Diet and Nutrition or apply for a professional practitioner's course. Tutor to advise.
