Mixed Media Portraits
Looking at the work of Frida Kahlo, Henri Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh, Marlene Dumas and many more we will work in colour and in collage to produce highly individual mixed media portraits.
Who is this course for
This course is for beginners as well as the more experienced artists. It is for anyone with a curiosity for painting and drawing who is interested in experimenting with media.
What does this course cover
This Course will include some observational drawing practice as well as painting and collage. By the end of the Course students will have made several drawings and at least one large painting which may include elements of collage and drawing.
What will it be like
There will be group tuition as well as individual teaching and support. The tutor will show relevant examples of work. We will assess progress on the course through a group critique
What else do you need to buy or do
Students should bring in acrylic paint and brushes, pastels and coloured pencil and any collage material they would like to use. No extra study/practice is required outside the class.
What this course could lead to
This course is a great precursor to any life painting courses.
