MS Word Stage 1
This is course is designed for students looking to enhance their Microsoft Word skills, either at home or in the workplace. The aim of the course is to unlock the power of Microsoft Word by covering the key features, learning how to do doing simple tasks efficiently and exploring some of the more advanced features. Students will need a basic understanding of how to use a computer and a mouse.

What does this course cover
Learn how to use Microsoft Word to make professional and visually appealing documents. Topics will include learning how to create, save and edit text and paragraphs, setting up tabs and margins, adding borders and shading, inserting headers and footers, adding and formatting page numbers, and creating formatting and editing tables. Students will also learn how to insert clip art in documents, set up brochures, and create newsletters. Students will need a basic understanding of how to use a computer and a mouse.

Students can move on to studying a qualification, other specialist Microsoft Office courses or any other courses in Mary Ward Centre.
What will it be like
The course is fully taught with practical tasks to complete on the computer and manually both individually and in groups. Activities will include demonstrations, examples and discussions.
There will be ongoing monitoring of students' work including questions, observations and tasks. Achievement tick sheet and start and end of class student self-assessment.
You will be able to print and save documents that you have been created or saved in clouds and sharing with others or keep them forever.
You will be able to create/edit a shared file online on collaboration with your colleagues and give permission to modify options, teamwork remotely.
What else do you need to buy or do
Please bring a notebook and A4 folder for the course handouts.
A selection of basic materials such as hand out examples and plain papers for printing will be provided.
What this course could lead to
Learners will leave feeling confident about creating professional documents with the software and be able to navigate the interface intuitively and productively.
You will be able to manage reports/ documents and correspondence in any office environment
Microsoft Word Stage1 and Advanced level knowledge of this software could lead to job opportunities since MS Word is used a lot in the workplace
