Native American Herbal Back Massage
This course focuses on a specific back massage routine that is used by Native Americans to encourage the body to release stagnant energy and toxins with the help of herbal infused oils. A simple hands-on healing technique will also be included to encourage mental relaxation.

Suitable for beginners as well as massage practitioners, no previous knowledge neccessary.
Please note: Qualified complementary therapists can receive a 5 point CPD certificate for attending this course, a copy of your massage qualification must be given to the tutor on the day of the workshop.
Massage is generally safe for everyone but there are condtions when it is not suitable, such as in the first trimester of pregnancy. Please check with a health professional if you have any health concerns.
What does this course cover
Brief introduction to the spiritual and historical background of massage in Native American culture
Properties and benefits of the herbs used such as Sage, Marjoram etc.
How to make your own herbal infused massage oil
Contra-indications and contra-actions to massage
A simple and effective back massage with infused herbal oils, using ancient Native American techniques, to help the body to detoxify and rejuvenate
Perform a herbal back massage on friends and family, - Recognise the benefits of the different herbs, - Have an insight into the history of herbal massage, - Recognise when not to massage
What will it be like
Theory teaching methods include: Lecture /presentation / group work / discussion / questions and answers / fun quiz.
Practical: Students will work in pairs massaging each other, facilitated by the tutor verbally, through demonstration and direct hands-on.
At the start: You will be ask to complete a Health and Safety form
On the course: You will receive regular verbal feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate.
At the end: You will be ask to complete a course evaluation form.
What else do you need to buy or do
Bring with you 1 large bath sheet and 2 hand towels
Baby wet wipes or Antiseptic hand gel
Box of tissues
1 small bowl for the massage oil
Please wear flat shoes and comfortable loose clothing, maybe a cotton T-shirt to change into.
