New: Catwalk To High Street

How to translate the catwalk latest looks into your personal style. Explore the seasons key fashion pieces to update your style. Look at present trends in styles and accessories and incorporate key pieces into your current wardrobe to bring your style bang on trend.

Who is this course for

This one-day fashion course is for students interested in fashion styling and how couture designer styles are transformed/interpreted into high street fashion brands. It is also suitable for those wishing to update their winter 2016/17 wardrobe.

What does this course cover

The course will explore designers' trends for winter 2016/17, using imagery and videos clips juxtaposed against high street brands and will look at how designers' styles are interpreted into accessible high street fashion. We will identify the different trends for autumn/winter, key fashion items and what defines the 'look' for the season and how to style it.

We will look at a range of high street fashion brands (medium to low price range), consider what they do best, which body shapes are catered for and what styles/trends are followed for example: classic elegant; minimalist and casual. The Students will identify their own style and which designers and or high street retailers provide garments suitable for their body shape. Students will gain knowledge on how to navigate their way through the fashion trends and where to buy for their personal style and budget.

What will it be like

There will be a short lecture supported by imagery, videos, demonstrations, practical examples and group participation. Practical exercises will be carried out to support learning and to assess progress. Hand-outs will be given.

What else do you need to buy or do

Students are encouraged to bring along style ideas from magazine cuttings/drawings, a pen and note pad.

What this course could lead to

Students may wish to develop their flair for style by researching the various fashion style websites available and seeking out style ideas from newspapers or magazines.
