New: ECDL – ITQ Level 3 Certificate

Do you want study Microsoft Office to a high level to gain advanced work skills in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook? Do you want a qualification to prove these skills? Our new ECDL Level 3 Certificate in IT User Skills (IT User) covers proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and email, and will improve your productivity in using IT. You will work towards gaining all the skills you need to work in a professional an office environment.

This course take place in our newly updated IT suite at Blackfriars Settlement, 1 Ruthworth Street. SE1 0RB.
This is very close to Southwark station and a 10 minute walk from Waterloo station or Elephant and Castle Station.

Who is this course for

This is an advanced Level 3 course and is designed for the competent and confident IT users. All students need to have a passed the ECDL level 2 course or have relevant experience.

Candidates are advised to enrol on the Preparing for EDCL level 3 course 2200A, to enable us to assess their suitability for this demanding qualification and to pass our an initial assessment.

This is a long course that requires a commitment of 30 full day sessions on a Saturday over 9 months. Students will need to commitment to attending all the sessions, and to sit the diagnostics test and on the days they are planned.

What does this course cover

ECDL Level 3 Certificate in IT User Skills will provide you with many skills you need to work in an office or administrative environment at a high level.
You will work on 5 modules over 30 full day sessions on a Saturday

' Advanced word processing skills to format text and tables, work with referencing features and create tables of contents. You will improve your productivity by using fields, forms and templates.
' Advanced email and project management skills using Outlook including organising, prioritising and filing messages.
' Excel to an advanced level so you can use sophisticated functions, create charts and apply advanced chart formatting features, work with tables and lists to analyse, filter and sort data.
' Advanced PowerPoint presentations, including how to work with custom slide shows, apply slide show setting, and control a slide show.
' Improving your productivity in general through IT use: how to plan, evaluate and improve procedures involving the use of IT tools and systems in order to improve the productivity and efficiency of work activities.

You will work on each module over 3-5 sessions, followed by a diagnostic test or a portfolio of evidence. Once this has been assessed, you will take the final online exam the week after, or hand it your completed portfolio.
Diagnostic test and exams to complete each module will be taken during the lesson time. Students will need to pass their current module to move on to the next stage of the course.

By the end learners will be able to use the following Microsoft Office software at an advanced level:
Improving Productivity Unit
Word Processing (Level 3)
Presentation Software (Level 3)
Spreadsheet Software (Level 3)
Using Email (Level 3)

The course fee is £863. This fee can be paid in instalments. If you're unable to pay this upfront, you can choose to apply for an Advanced Learning Loan from the Student Loans Company to help cover the course fee.

What will it be like

Teaching methods: Visual demonstration and verbal explanation. Written handouts with visual diagrams. One-to-one teaching. Group discussions

Learning methods: Hands-on practical activities, Reading handouts and following instructions.
One-to-one and group discussion.

How students are assessed: Set tasks and assignments. Online diagnostics tests, evidence based portfolios of work produced and online exams.

Questions and answers during group discussions and one-to-one teaching.

Record of students' progress and achievement on an assessment sheet as they achieve the course objectives. Practical work produced is evidence of learning.

The course fee is £863. If you're unable to pay this upfront, you can choose to apply for an Advanced Learning Loan from the Student Loans Company to help cover the course fee.

Please also bring a USB stick, folder, pens and notebook. There are no additional costs.
