New : MS Office: Intro

Are you a new computer user or a non-expert who is struggling to you get to grips with MS Office? Would you like to learn the basics of MS Office and be able to create documents using MS Word? If the answer is yes, then this introductory course will be perfect for you. We will cover everything a beginner needs to know about MS Office in a friendly and supportive learning environment. Plus, you will learn how to create, save and print off your very own Word documents too.

Who is this course for

This is a beginner's course for people, with some or very little experience of using a computer, keyboard and mouse, who would like to learn about MS Office.

What does this course cover

The course will cover: the Windows interface, using the mouse and keyboard shortcuts, using the My Documents folder, an introduction to MS Office applications and learning how to create and print simple Word documents.
By the end of the course you should be able to:
1. Use the mouse and keyboard to open and close MS Word, to move or resize a window and to select, enter, delete, copy and paste text.
2. Describe the different MS office applications.
3. Create and find folders/files in My Documents.
4. Create, edit, save and print simple documents in MS Word.

What will it be like

The course will be delivered using lots of practical activities, group work, discussions and demonstrations.
Teaching methods: Visual demonstration and verbal explanation. Written handouts with visual diagrams. One-to-one teaching. Group discussions
Learning methods: Hands-on practical activities, Reading handouts and following instructions.
One-to-one and group discussion.
How students are assessed: Questions and answers during group discussions and one-to-one teaching.
Record of students' progress and achievement on an assessment sheet as they achieve the course objectives. Practical work produced is evidence of learning.

What else do you need to buy or do

Students will need to bring a pen, notebook, folder for handouts and USB stick to save your work. Practice at home is recommended, but it is not compulsory.

What this course could lead to

On completion of this course, students can progress onto MS Office: User- 6 weeks.
