New: Outer And Inner Journeys: Therapeutic Writing
Our decisions to start any journey involves thought and contemplation. Using poetry and therapeutic writing you will embark on a journey of self- discovery to find your unique voice. This is a practical and experiential course that is open to anyone, at any level. It is for both personal and professional development. It will be of interest to anyone who enjoys writing or journaling.

This is a practical and experiential course that is open to anyone, at any level. It is for both personal and professional development. It will be of interest to anyone who enjoys writing or journaling or for those who enjoy self- discovery activities and wants to learn more about themselves using creative activities, poetry and writing.
No previous experience of poetry or expressive writing is required, just a willingness to share, reflect and experiment with words in a supportive environment.
What does this course cover
- Define poetry therapy
- Name the benefits of therapeutic writing
- Identify two ways of how poetry and writing increases self-awareness
- Create an acrostic
- List three different poetry therapy exercises
What will it be like
- Tutor led presentations and demonstrations
- Group activities and discussion
- Creative and self-reflective writing exercises
- Practical tasks / Writing Prompts
- Guided imagery and a range of creative exercises facilitated by the tutor
Your progress on the course will be assessed by the following methods.
- Peer and self-assessment
- Quizzes/ Games/Crosswords

All art materials and poems are provided, but please bring your own notebook.
A pen or pencil which enables you to write quickly and freely
