New: Psychology Of Sleep
This course covers everything you ever wanted to know about sleep, from why, how and what is the function of sleep. It takes students through a historical journey from the beginnings of sleep medicine at a small laboratory in Stanford, USA to understanding what Greek scholars thought of sleep and the reasons why we sleep. It will also delve into the main theories proposed for explaining why humans sleep and some of the diseases and medical issues associated with sleep too.
Who is this course for
This course is for anyone wishing to understand more about the processes of sleep, the history of sleep and what some of the proposed reasons are for sleeping. No previous knowledge is required just enthusiasm and a curious mind to learn. Students need not have any previous experience in the subject area.

The course specifically covers:
An introduction to sleep medicine
The history of sleep medicine
Theories of sleep
Clinical studies of sleep
Classification of sleep disorders
How sleep is measured
Trends in sleep medicine
By the end of the course students will have a general overview of some of the basic principles of sleep medicine
What will it be like
Teaching will be classroom based with interactive workshops and short quizzes to test knowledge and learning.
What else do you need to buy or do
No specialist equipment will be needed by students to undertake this short course.
The tutor will inform those who register a suitable textbook to use as a companion but there is no need to purchase this.
Any extra work to be carried out by students will be shared by the tutor on a weekly basis.
