Who is this course for

Do you want to use social media to promote your business? Or are you applying for jobs where you need knowledge of social media? This intensive course has been designed to help get you up to scratch with your social media knowledge and give you the tricks of the trade.
This is a course is intended for small business owners with no or little experience of using social media, but who would like to use it to market or advertise their products and/or services.

What does this course cover

The course will cover all the basic components of Facebook marketing, Twitter marketing, Instagram marketing and Google for Business.
By the end of the course you should be able to:
1. Understand the term social media marketing.
2. Understand the term social media platform and identify the main uses of some common platforms.
3. Create Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google for Business accounts.
4. Create online marketing campaigns on Facebook and Instagram.
5. Monitor and improve campaigns using analytics.

What will it be like

The course will be delivered using lots of practical activities, group work, discussions and demonstrations.

Teaching methods: Visual demonstration and verbal explanation. Written handouts with visual diagrams. One-to-one teaching. Group discussions
Learning methods: Hands-on practical activities, Reading handouts and following instructions.
One-to-one and group discussion.
How students are assessed: Questions and answers during group discussions and one-to-one teaching.
Record of students' progress and achievement on an assessment sheet as they achieve the course objectives. Practical work produced is evidence of learning.

What else do you need to buy or do

Students will need to bring a pen, notebook, folder (for handouts) and their mobile phone.
If you already have accounts with facebook, instagram, twitter, mailchimp etc. check that you know
your login details and bring them to class.

What this course could lead to

You may choose to study another similar course, for example build your website in a weekend or
blogging for business. Social Networking for Small Business Enterprises, Website Building for Small Business Enterprises, Bookkeeping Level 1 or Marketing Course. Alternatively you may want try other business courses at the Mary Ward Centre (see prospectus).
