New: Working With Victims Of Coercive Control

Some counselling clients will have experienced
coercive control in relationships, often in families
or larger groups, such as closed, high demand
groups, or cults. This course will cover aspects
which it is important for counsellors to understand
in relation to these clients. We will examine the
implications of this in relation to our practice. We
will focus on coercive control in a group context
(although some of the material is also relevant for
domestic situations). Suitable for students at Level
3 and above. Students who attend will gain a CPD
certificate of 5 hours.

Who is this course for

Mental health professionals, such as counsellors, who work with clients on a one to one basis.
Counsellors in training or who have a counselling qualifications.
The course is designed to meet the professional development needs of counsellors.

What does this course cover

The dynamics of coercive control, particularly in groups. The implications of this when working with clients. Students would have a better understanding of the psychological dynamic of coercive groups.
They would have strengthened their understanding and skills for working with people in this client group.
