Once you know the basics here is a chance for you to set aside time to learn the practical and creative side of the DSLR camera. Create a portfolio of work as you increase your knowledge of digital photography week by week. Learn from others and also share your experiences behind the lens.

Who is this course for

Once you know the basics of digital photography, here is a chance for you to set aside time to learn the practical and creative uses of your DSLR or Bridge camera. Create a portfolio of work as you increase your knowledge of digital photography week by week. Also learn from others and share your ideas and techniques.
You will need to have your own camera and have some experience of using it.

What does this course cover

Week by week you will experience a series of exciting and engaging projects that will assist you in creating a portfolio of work from the simple to the complex. We will look at the work of expert photographers and discuss the techniques they have used.
Projects will include:
' Cityscapes & Architecture
' Creating panoramas in Photoshop
' Creative uses of White Balance
' Creative uses of reflections
' Street and Urban Photography
' Digital Photomontage
' Creative still-life set-ups
' Theories of composition
' Mastering natural light portraits
' Daylight long exposures
' Black & White photography
' Titling your photographs

You will have a much greater degree of control, understanding and knowledge of the day-to-day and creative uses of your camera.

What will it be like

The course will make use of the fantastic photographic opportunities offered by our Central London location at the weekend. Practical workshops/demonstrations are followed by hands-on practical training; individual/group projects; short talks/group discussion, with the opportunity to view and review each other's work. Clear handouts are given during and after each session to ensure your work can continue after you've left the class.

What else do you need to buy or do

Your own DSLR camera. Please book one of the Centre's cameras if you do not have your own.+
As much practice as possible to reinforce learning. This may be at home or elsewhere.

What this course could lead to

Progress to more advanced photography courses or enrol on Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Dreamweaver web design courses.
