Preparing for ITQ Level 1

The aim of the course is to prepare students to go to study the BEGINNERS QUALIFICATION IN USING IT SKILLS LEVEL 1 (ITQ). It is perfect for students who would like a qualification but want help to prepare themselves for it.
It is tutor-led throughout and is designed to build confidence and recognise computing skills, knowledge and understanding. It will help equip students to move on to learn a basic range of transferable skills for the modern workplace. Please ensure you have at least E3/L1 English/ESOL

Please note that the class will take place at Blackfriars Settlement, 1 Rushworth Street, London SE1 ORB.
This is a new Mary Ward Centre location and is a short walk from Southwark Tube Station.

What does this course cover

The aim of the course is to help equip students to move on to learn a basic range of transferable skills for the modern workplace and build confidence and recognise computing skills, knowledge and understanding.
On this course you will be taught three sections and will introduce you to the 3 main areas of the BEGINNERS QUALIFICATION IN USING IT SKILLS LEVEL 1 (ITQ)
File Management and e-document production using Word
Creating Spreadsheets and Graphs using Excel
Presentation Graphics using PowerPoint.
Each section will be a taster that will prepare you for the qualification that follows on from it.

What will it be like

Demonstration using Smartboard through computer-linked projectors, exposition and discussion. One-to-one and Group work. Through tutor-guidance and hands-on experience, the completion of the course assessment(s).
The tutor will closely monitor the students' work as well as questioning, observing progress, setting tasks and online questioning with diagnosis.

What else do you need to buy or do

Materials are supplied free of charge by the Centre.
As much as possible to reinforce learning. This may be at home or elsewhere or from homework given by the tutor.
