Who is this course for
This course is part of our suite of Absolute Beginners classes (also Drawing, Painting and Jewellery), designed to bring inexperienced and unconfident students up to speed in a selection of our arts and crafts provision.
What does this course cover
The course will give students a basic knowledge in the areas of Clay Modelling, Casting and Glazing; Carving, Wood and Stone; Ceramics; Mixed Media; Health and Safety/Studio Practice. All in enough depth for students to feel like they're not starting from scratch when they want to specialise in any area.
What will it be like
Individual tuition and group work.
Students may do set projects offered.
Practical demonstrations will be given.
Assessment is ongoing and based on tutor observations.
The tutor will look at understanding of technical and aesthetic processes in relation to your discussed aims.
Verbal feedback is given throughout classes on a one-to-one basis.
At the end of each term we will discuss projects as a group.
What else do you need to buy or do
Students should wear stout shoes and bring an apron or old shirt, sculpture can be messy, and dusty.
Most basic materials are included but the tutor will discuss prices of additional specialist materials if they are needed.
Space is limited, so works can't be too large and there is a 7kg weight restriction.
