Stretching to Music

Carefully choreographed movements set to a variety of music designed to promote health, vitality and flexibility. Please wear loose clothing.

Who is this course for

A relaxing and enjoyable class for both men and women in their retirement who want to experience renewed energy and vitality through careful movements and sensitive stretching. Through a sequence of choreographed exercises set to a variety of music, participants can expect to increase their flexibility, plus improve muscle strength and stamina.
Many movements are great for the heart and lungs and may help lower blood pressure. Although this is a group activity, there is plenty of room for individuals to adjust to a level at which they feel most comfortable and alternative variations are provided if necessary

What does this course cover

The class provides a good twenty minute warm up and stretch of all the major muscle groups. Music is carefully chosen to assist movement.
There are no spinning or leaping movements but a range of tempos and rhythms are used to increase the heartbeat in a safe and beneficial fashion. We end with a cool down and five minutes guided relaxation.
By the end of the course you should be more aware of your own body movements and posture.

What will it be like

As the class aims to be fun, correction is kept to a minimum. Most of the teaching and learning is through demonstration and observation.
The teacher will keep an eye out for those in difficulty. If students wish to set themselves specific targets, the teacher will be pleased to monitor progress in these targets by arrangement before the class.

What else do you need to buy or do

Please come in loose or stretching clothes for ease of movement. Skirts are not suitable for floorwork. Please wear either non-slip socks or shoes with flexible soles.
