Working With Children Level 1
A practical accredited course preparing students for level 2. We will look at childrens social, emotional, physical and creative development. Interviews take place in July and September. For further details ask to speak to Kirsty Barlow.

Who is this course for
People who have completed the Introduction to working with children course at Mary Ward and have some experience of working with children in childcare settings.
What does this course cover
This is a Gateway Level 1 qualification covering units on:
Growth and development of young children
Practical health and safety when working with young children
Awareness of protection and safeguarding
Communicating with young children
Equality and Inclusion
Working in an Early Years Setting
Respecting and valuing children
What will it be like
Lots of pair and group work to support learning about working with children. A mix of theory and practical aspects will be used to further your understanding of childcare.
Assessment will be by observation, practical activities, worksheets and discussion.
What else do you need to buy or do
Students should have a pen, paper and folder.
Weekly homework is provided.
What this course could lead to
Gateway level 2 in Childcare, which will increase your opportunities to work in this field.
