Pre-foundation Art courses at the Mary Ward Centre
Pre-foundation courses in creative arts provide students with the opportunity to develop their practice and techniques or create a portfolio to prepare them for further qualifications. Students learn in a friendly environment and are encouraged to develop their own ideas with the support of experienced tutors.
Choose from the following:
This course will prepare you for the Foundation, FDA or HND. Some students progress directly to BA. (ABC Accreditation). The course is for those with some experience in Applied Art and who wish to develop their skills and understanding to level 2.
Develop your own practice or prepare a portfolio for Foundation or Higher National Diploma (HND). Some students progress directly to BA and Masters (MA). This course is for those with some experience of Art and Design who wish to develop their skills and understanding to level 2.
Learn the essentials of flat pattern cutting to make patterns for skirts, bodices, dresses, trousers, jackets, and sleeves up to a standard size 12. You will learn to lay pattern blocks on fabric, cut them out and construct into a toile (test garment) using a range of sewing techniques. You will learn to develop and adapt pattern blocks to realise your own designs. BTEC Level 2 accreditation.
