These courses offer an opportunity for you to further develop your interests, talents and skills in the Visual Arts or prepare for University entry at BA or MA level.

Students interested in the Level 2 Pre-Foundation, Level 3 Foundation, Advanced Creative Practice and Working in Community Arts courses will need to attend an interview with a portfolio of work before enrolling.

Level 2 Pre-Foundation in Art & Design (T)

This course is for those students with some experience of Art and Design who are ready for a 2 term accredited course and wish to develop their skills, understanding and confidence. It is suitable for those wanting to focus on developing new skills or producing a broad fine art portfolio of work for Foundation or further study. The course gives students experience in the main fine art subject areas of 2D and 3D practice, and it also offers students the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised qualification: L2 Certificate in Art and Design.

Level 3 Foundation in Art and Design (T)

This course is aimed at students who are considering Further or Higher Education in Art and Design, students who are considering a career in the visual arts or those wishing to advance their art and design practice in a structured environment with professional guidance. You should have some experience of art and design already, and entry to the course is dependent on a short informal interview in which you will be expected to present a portfolio of work.

Successful students will gain the nationally recognised BTEC Level 3 540 Diploma in Art and Design Practice.

This course can be paid in instalments (please read our policy before doing so) and is eligible for a student loan.

Advanced Creative Practice in Art and Design (T)

This course is suitable for those who have a Foundation Arts degree or with an established artistic practice, who wish to reinvigorate and develop their creative approaches, skills and ideas within a supportive peer group. The course will enable students to progress and develop their creative practice at the next level. With an emphasis on independent working, the tutor takes a step back to allow experienced students freedom to develop ideas fully Entry to the course is dependent on a short informal interview in which you will be expected to present a portfolio of work.

This course can be paid in instalments.
