Building Digital Skills For Work - Word And Powerpoint Intro

  • Who is it for?

    This course will introduce learners to the basics of Word and PowerPoint applications giving them a foundation to create a resume, letters, and basic slides. It is great for students, retiree, job seekers or anyone who is looking to enhance their digital skills,

  • What does it cover?

    During this course you will learn the following skills:
    To identify and use the basic aspects of Word and PowerPoint such as the ribbon, basic commands and working area.
    Create and format text of a simple document
    Create and format text of a simple slide and run Slide Show
    Print and save documents and presentations.
    Insert and resize an image.
    Spell check.

    Please ensure your English level is at E3/L1 English/ESOL to join

  • What will it be like?

    Teaching methods: Visual demonstration and verbal explanation. Written handouts with visual diagrams. Group discussions. Learning methods: Hands-on practical activities, reading handouts and following instructions. One-to-one and group work. How students are assessed: Ongoing monitoring of students' work including questions, observation and tasks. Record of students' progress and achievement on an assessment sheet as they achieve the course objectives. Start and End of class student self-assessment/achievement tick sheet. Practical work produced is evidence of learning.

  • What else do I need to buy or do?

    You will need to bring a folder to keep the handouts you will receive in class. Also, a notebook and a pen to take notes. You need to have access to a computer and the internet for practicing and completing homework.

  • What could it lead to?

    This course doesn?t have any stressful final exams or an official qualification. If you attend on time to all lessons, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from the college. At the end of the course, you will decide with your tutor which is the most appropriate next course for you. You can go for any short or awarded IT courses such as Essential Digital Skills E3 or ICDL L1. Either way you will need to book an assessment appointment.
