This is a fast-pacing course that will develop your digital skills for work and everyday life while prepare you to obtain the Essential Digital Skills qualification at entry level 3. It is not for complete beginners or individuals with very limited experience using computer and the internet.
If you have limited digital skills, we have created courses for complete beginners and beginners such as Making a Start with your Computer or Building your Digital Skills that would allow you to gain the confidence, knowledge and skills without the pressure of final tests, before embarking in this qualification. Please book an appointment to attend an Advice and Guidance session if you think you are ready for this qualification.
Please ensure your English level is at E3/L1 English/ESOL to join.
This course will cover all five areas set out in the national standards which are:
Using devices and handling information,
Creating and editing documents with Word, PowerPoint
Communicating,
Transactions,
Being safe and responsible online.
You are expected to be punctual and attend 100% of this course. We kindly ask that you avoid booking holidays during this course. If you happen to miss two consecutive sessions without prior agreement with the tutor, there’s a possibility you may be withdrawn.
You will need access to a computer and the internet to practice regularly on between classes and to complete homework and assignments. You must be committed take final take two online exams.
Teaching methods: Visual demonstration and verbal explanation. Written handouts with visual diagrams. Group discussions.
Learning methods: Hands-on practical activities, reading handouts and following instructions. One-to-one and group work.
How students are assessed: Ongoing monitoring of students' work including questions, observation and tasks. Start and End of class student self-assessment/achievement tick sheet.
Upon successful completion of two exams, you will receive EDSQ E3 qualification.
You will need to bring a folder to keep the handouts you will receive in class. Also, a notebook and a pen to take notes. A USB memory stick to store homework.
You need to have access to a computer and the internet for practicing and completing homework.
At the end of the course, you will decide with your tutor which is the most appropriate next course for you. You can continue with other qualifications such as Essential Digital Skills L1 or go for one of our short courses.
