This short course will cover various decorative techniques including; the use of oxides and underglazes, the difference between stoneware and earthenware glazes and firing temperatures. It will explain briefly the nature of a glaze and how to use and apply various decorative techniques to obtain various results. Following the workshop, glazed work will then be fired, ready for collection later in the term. As part of the workshop you will be encouraged to keep notes on your glazing decisions
Practical and with demonstrations. This workshop is suitable both for beginners and for more advanced students.
You should be able to follow simple verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs, for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion.
