Improving Your Digital Skills for Work: Word Excel And Powerpoint

  • Who is it for?

    If you're beyond the beginner stage and want to take your skills to the next level, this intermediate-level course is perfect for you. Whether you work in an office, manage projects, or handle data, improving your skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will boost your productivity. It will also help you to find a job or advance in your career, these skills that are highly valued by employers.

  • What does it cover?

    By the end of the course you should be able to:
    To create Folders and Sub Folders for file management purposes
    To identify and use the aspects of Word most required in an office environment.
    Create Tables, Tabs in Word
    Use Mail Merge including static and data sources in Word
    To identify and use the aspects of Excel most required in an office environment i.e Relative and Absolute Addressing, Goal Seek
    Format Conditionally, Tabs including names and colour in Excel
    Identify and use the aspects of PowerPoint most required in an office environment including Slide Layouts and Organizational Charts

    Please ensure your English level is at E3/L1 English/ESOL to join

  • What will it be like?

    Teaching methods: Visual demonstration and verbal explanation. Written handouts with visual diagrams. Group discussions.
    Learning methods: Hands-on practical activities, reading handouts and following instructions. One-to-one and group work.
    How students are assessed: Ongoing monitoring of students' work including questions, observation and tasks. Record of students' progress and achievement on an assessment sheet as they achieve the course objectives. Start and End of class student self-assessment/achievement tick sheet. Practical work produced is evidence of learning.

  • What else do I need to buy or do?

    You will need to bring a folder to keep the handouts you will receive in class. Also, a notebook and a pen to take notes.
    You need to have access to a computer and the internet for practicing and completing homework.

  • What could it lead to?

    This course doesn't have any stressful final exams or an official qualification. If you attend on time to all lessons, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from the college.

    At the end of the course, you will decide with your tutor which is the most appropriate next course for you. You can go for other short IT courses, or for awarded IT courses such as Essential Digital Skills E3 or ICDL L2. Either way you will need to book an assessment appointment
