Anyone who wants to use WordPress which is the world’s best and most popular website builder to install and set up a site. Students may be new to WordPress/blogging but will need to already have basic computing skills and experience of using a web browser on a PC.
The course is taught using the free hosted service Wordpress.com. Differences between this and self-hosted WordPress sites, will be discussed.
o What is WordPress?
o Getting started with WordPress - WordPress.com and self-hosted sites
o Creating, modifying and deleting web pages
o Adding and modifying text, pictures and video in a website
o Creating and managing a blog
o Changing the appearance of a WordPress site using Themes and Templates
o Using Widgets.
o Learn the WordPress concepts of Posts, Pages and Themes
o Be able to create and manage a simple WordPress website
Demonstration using Smartboard through computer-linked projectors, exposition and discussion. One-to-one and Group work. Through tutor-guidance and hands-on experience, the completion of the course objectives.+ Ongoing monitoring of students' work including questions, observation and tasks. Start and End of class student self-assessment/achievement tick sheet.+
ou will need an email account to activate your WordPress.com account.
Materials are supplied free of charge by the Centre.+ As much practice as possible to reinforce learning. This may be at home or elsewhere or from homework given by the tutor.
