This is the accredited Level 2 course for students who have successfully completed the level 1 course or who have sufficient knowledge at the introductory level to feel confident enough to complete the modules. It is a qualification in computing that is widely recognised by employers as the benchmark in computing skills. (Previously known as ECDL).
You will need access to a computer to practice on between classes and to complete your homework. Students must be committed to attend the whole course, complete homework, assignments and take the unit exams. Please ensure you have at least E3/L1 English/ESOL.
It is tutor-led throughout and is designed to build confidence of computing skills, knowledge and understanding. The 4 Units covered in this course are:
1. Word Processing - Microsoft Word
Processing This unit develops the learners ability to create word-processed documents, entering text, editing and formatting work and using graphs, tables and pictures for a professional finish. The learner will also understand how to work more effectively using tools such as the spell-checker and mail merge.
2. Spreadsheet - Microsoft Excel
Software This ECDL unit helps learners develop a working knowledge of spreadsheets from entering data and formatting worksheets through to creating charts and producing high quality documents.
3. Presentation - Microsoft PowerPoint
Software The Presentation Software unit introduces the learner to this important means of business communication. Upon completion, learners will be capable of producing high quality presentations using a variety of tools including charts, graphs and drawn objects.

4. IT Productivity
Using IT The ITQ requires the inclusion of content that builds the learners ability to work more effectively with IT. This unit looks at using tools to help save time and effort when producing word-processed documents, presentations and spreadsheets.
The course is tutor-led throughout and you are advised to consolidate their learning outside the college. You will cover all the areas required for the exams during the course. Each until has a practice exam which you will need to pass before you can enter the main unit exam. The tutor will manage your progress and advise you.
Upon successful completion of four short online exams, you receive the BCS Level 2 ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills. A successful student should also have better knowledge of computers and computing software to a level that is recognised as being the standard for the workplace.
The tutor-led element of the course consists of demonstrations with exercises to complete and discussion. In addition there will be one-to-one and Group work, tutor directed build-up exercises and mock tests. Individual tutor guidance and hands-on practice will lead to the completion of online examinations.
The tutor will closely monitor the students' work giving feedback as well as questioning, observing progress, setting tasks and online questioning with diagnosis. Exams will be on site.
You will need to have access to a computer or laptop to practice Office and to complete your homework. Homework will be regularly set is will form part of your learning towards your qualification Materials are supplied free of charge by the Centre, but you are advised to bring a memory stick to save your work.

It is designed for to improve your IT skills required for the modern workplace. The course will focus on three key programs used in employment: Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Are you new to computers? Do you want to gain confidence using them? This could be your first step - an accredited course for complete beginners or those who have limited digital skills. The tutor will guide and help you to gain confidence and basic digital skills such as: ' using the keyboard and the mouse ' having basic knowledge of the layout and features of Windows 10 ' creating, saving, and printing simple documents in Word such as a letter or CV ' being safe online while using the internet for searching, shopping, or emailing Please ensure you have at least E3/L1 English/ESOL.
