Line Dance: Latin Rhythm

Dance to Latin dance rhythms such as Cha Cha Cha, Mambo and Rumba without needing a partner in this Line Dance class with a difference.
  • Who is it for?

No previous dance experience necessary. This course is designed for anyone who is interested in learning line dances inspired by Latin dance rhythms. Returning learners are welcome, as different routines are added each term.

  • What does it cover?

This course will cover several short line dances based on Latin dance rhythms such as Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Mambo and Samba. Routines will be performed to Latin and pop music to explore each rhythm and develop musicality. Routines may be one-, two- or four-wall line dance routines similar to standard line dancing but always with a connection to a Latin dance rhythm.

    Main Outcomes
1, Demonstrate a range of Latin dance steps in short line dance routines.
2, Perform steps and movements in time to a range of music, showing rhythmical interpretation.
3, Take part in a group routines demonstrating a culmination of the skills learned.

  • What will it be like?

The steps and movements will be demonstrated, described and modelled by the tutor and then learners will follow, dancing in lines or groups. Independent practice time will be given and creative input facilitated. The tutor will observe your performance and make suggestions for improvement. Self and peer assessment will also be encouraged.

  • What else do I need to buy or do?

Comfortable clothing and footwear (jazz or other soft dance shoes are ideal, or alternatively trainers / plimsolls) are recommended to allow for free movement.

  • What could it lead to?

You may wish to join another class next term or dance socially. Your tutor will advise you of upcoming options.
