This course introduces learners to the principles of zero-waste garment design, exploring how intentional pattern planning can eliminate fabric waste and support more sustainable making practices.
Learners will develop practical skills in planning garments directly from fabric dimensions, mapping shapes efficiently, and keeping the look you want, following zero-waste constraints.
By the end of the session, you’ll understand the ideas behind zero-waste pattern cutting/design and the different ways to achieve it. You will leave the course with a zero-waste pattern and garment.
To do this course you must have basic maths a minimum requirement of introductory pattern cutting skills, and dress sewing skills.
The course combines guided learning with hands-on making practical pattern planning directly from fabric dimensions. and, you’ll construct your garment using sewing machines.
You need to bring your own pencil, pen, notebook, and cloth you want to make your garment from.
You will need to buy calico for toiling; a tracing wheel; drill holer a pattern master or set square.
You can do other specialist pattern cutting courses like zero waste- tops or Intermediate and advanced pattern cutting courses.
