Learners who have experience on Windows PC or Laptop computers, with basic keyboard skills and wish to be able to work with spreadsheets. You will learn these skills:
using File Explorer to find and open files
creating spreadsheet files and saving to a specific drive and folder
navigating the spreadsheet window
entering and managing data, organising data into rows and columns
copying and moving data
formatting numerical and text data to change colour, size and style
performing basic arithmetic calculations using Formulas
creating charts and printing sheets
By the end of the course, students will understand basic file management, know the key functions and terminology of spreadsheets, and feel confident using Excel for everyday tasks.
The Tutor will use a smartboard to demonstrate and explain techniques; Students work on practical exercises using the classroom PCs by following written instructions on handouts. Discussion and questions are encouraged as part of the learning. Guidance will also be given on how to access online Excel tutorials outside lessons.
To get the most out of the course, it's a good idea to practice and complete homework outside the classroom.
You’ll be using the computers available in the classroom. Please bring a notepad, a pen, and a folder to keep your handouts organised.
