Acquire a variety of skills and approaches in a supportive and friendly atmosphere. Active participation is encouraged. Beginners and more experienced writers welcome.
The course is for people who have reached retirement age who wish to develop their writing skills. No previous experience is necessary.
The course covers a wide variety of writing including fiction, memoir, biography, and poetry. By the end of the course students should have gained confidence in their writing and the ability to share it with others. Writing skills would have been acquired or improved.
Writing exercises will be set for stimuli and discussed in class. Homework assignments will be provided, and students are free to choose their own writing path. There is an emphasis on developing skills in a constructive, helpful, and supportive environment. Student will assess their own learning and progress throughout the term.
Students will be helped to develop various skills relating to the writing craft such as developing character and structure, improving the ability to transform life into fiction, and receiving and delivering supportive fiction.
All students require is a notebook and pen or other sort of device to o their writing on. Homework exercises will be set.
