Adolescent Culture – Online

This postgraduate-level series of workshops has been created in response to the new BACP
competence framework for Counselling Children and Young People, which emphasises a relational way of working. The courses are for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists with at least a Level 4 Diploma
in Counselling (or equivalent) who have an interest in working with 11-19 year-olds within the education
or charity sector. Each module will consist of a combination of theoretical presentation, experiential
learning and presentation of case material. Students who attend will gain a CPD certificate of 6 hours for
each course.
Module 2: Adolescent Culture
This course explores the world of the adolescent and the specific challenges faced by this group, looking at the impact of the internet, gang culture, drugs and alcohol as well as school culture and the challenges of working within the education setting. We will introduce case material and creative strategies for working through some of the issues faced by teenagers in todays world.
