An Introduction To Chi Kung (qigong)

This series of 3 classes is designed to introduce qigong to the beginner or as a refresher for those with experience. It is a forgiving practice that accepts you as it finds you. It can re-boot & re-balance your body, mind and spirit! Chi Kung (qigong) has its roots in ancient Chinese martial arts and brings about personal transformation through movement, breath and meditation. The classes are based around gentle, rhythmic movements that get under the radar to soften, de-stress augmenting your wellbeing inspiring deep whole body breathing. Release stress! Cultivate stillness! Breath deeper!

Who is this course for

No previous experience of chi kung (qigong) is necessary. The class is suitable for all ages and experience. Chi kung is a safe and gentle activity, however, students with specific health problems should obtain their doctor's permission to attend classes and inform the tutor before the session

What does this course cover

These on line classes give the student the opportunity to follow in real time with the tutor. Lessons start promptly there will be a 10 minute period before the class starts to ensure online connection, once the class has started latecomers will not be admitted. The initial setting up and final relaxation periods are particularly important.

What will it be like

The group will practise chi kung (Qigong) breathing exercises plus warming-up and cooling-down exercises. The group will be introduced the energetic concepts as they apply to the practice of chi kung
By the end of the course, students will have an understanding of increased body awareness; increased strength, flexibility, core stability and balance; a better understanding of their own physical capacities and limitations, the ability to focus/concentrate the mind for a short period of time and an introduction level understanding of philosophical principles of chi kung

By the end of the course you will be able:
To perform a movement sequence with fluency and acracy
To Improve management of breath through postural alignment
To incorporate the principles of chi kung to improve energy flow through the body

What else do you need to buy or do

BEFORE ONLINE CLASS
Clear sufficient space to practice in comfortably.
Wear comfortably fitting clothing, soft shoes or barefoot and have some water nearby.
Remember to mute your microphone during the class. There will be an opportunity for group discussion before and at the end.
