Who is this course for
This course is for students who wish to learn the skills required to work in an administrative job to ensure the smooth running of all types of business and charities. Students do not need to have any previous experience of office skills but are required to have a good level of English (Level 1) as they will be required to write a report and compose business letters as part of the course and for accreditation. Some basic computer skills are required.
What does this course cover
On completion of the course students should be able to use a variety of office equipment, filing (both electronic and manual), write a business letter, copying text from a draft document, prioritise work, answer the telephone efficiently and take messages accurately etc. - all the necessary key skills and functions for an administration job.
What will it be like
The course is fully taught with practical tasks to complete on the computer/manually both individually and in groups with assessments to complete at the end of each module which is portfolio based.
Teaching methods: Visual demonstration and verbal explanation. Written handouts with visual diagrams. One-to-one teaching. Group discussions
Learning methods: Hands-on practical activities, Reading handouts and following instructions.
One-to-one and group discussion.
How students are assessed: Questions and answers during group discussions and one-to-one teaching.
Record of students' progress and achievement on an assessment sheet as they achieve the course objectives. Practical work produced is evidence of learning.
What else do you need to buy or do
Students will be expected to do extra study outside of the classroom for each module depending upon the individual student's skill level to ensure the successful completion of the course. Your tutor will advise you on any additional purchases.
