Gentle Dance And Stretch – Online
Feel refreshed with an uplifting dance class featuring short, simple routines danced to range of music to energise body and mind. No dance experience necessary and suitable for all fitness levels.
Who is this course for
No previous dance experience necessary. This course is designed for anyone who is interested in moving to music and learning the basics of simple dances in a range of styles. Options will be given to choose higher or lower impact movements depending on experience and fitness levels as required.
What does this course cover
This course will cover short dance routines designed to gently exercise the body and improve coordination and balance. Routines will be danced solo in a group format with options given to suit different fitness or experience levels and a range of music and dance styles will be included.
What will it be like
The course will be run online using Zoom for the live class sessions and either the Moodle page for the course or some other system for the distribution of the electronic resources for the session sitting alongside this. Although there will be some adjustments that need to be made for the online version of this course, we will aim to keep the experience as close as possible to that of a face to face course taught in the Centre.
Steps will be demonstrated by the tutor for learners to follow as a group before performing to music. The class will begin with a variation of 'The Brain Dance' to prepare the body and mind for exercise, followed by some gentle limbering and stretching. This will be followed by a range of short easy-to-follow routines to a range of music styles including '50's and 60's, Country, Latin, Caribbean, Pop and more - all designed to be uplifting and invigorating.
What else do you need to buy or do
The course will be run on Zoom, please make sure you have installed it in advance of your first class on your computer or mobile device. You can sign up for free here:
You will need a microphone (it's fine to use whatever is built into your device) and camera, so we can see you via video. You may also want to use headphones during the session.

Please note that if you only have access to a smartphone, you will be able to attend the class sessions and participate in them but you will find it more difficult to benefit from the full range of materials and activities involved in the course if this is your only means of connection.
Make sure you have a small space to work in during the session and that as far as possible that you can keep this space quiet and clear of interruption so that you can concentrate on what is happening in the class.
