Gentle Lindy Hop

An introduction to swing dance for those who would like to try the basics of eight-county Lindy Hop. Covering some simple Lindy patterns and other lower impact swing movements, this course is ideal for those who would love to try the style either solo or with a partner.

Who is this course for

No previous experience necessary. This course is open to anyone who would like to try the basic steps of Lindy Hop in a low impact class.

What does this course cover

Students will learn a selection of Lindy Hop basic steps and turns with optional partner work where appropriate. Dances will be performed to swing and jazz music from the 20th century which will be discussed in relation to the style of the dance.

What will it be like

Steps will be demonstrated by the tutor for learners to follow as a group before performing to music. Combinations will be first learned solo with partner options offered for those that wish to dance together. The tutor will advise you on styling and timing.

What else do you need to buy or do

Comfortable clothing and footwear (ballroom, jazz or other soft dance shoes are ideal, or alternatively trainers / plimsolls) are recommended to allow for free movement.

You may wish to join another class next term or dance socially. Your tutor will advise you of upcoming options.
