New: Tap Dancing For Beginners

Tap dancing for anyone interested in enhancing their dancing skills and musicality. If youve always
dreamt of dancing tap, this is your chance! This course teaches the fundamentals of authentic tap
dancing. It is designed for those who have never tap danced before and those who would like to
brush up on their tapping skills.

Who is this course for

Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap foundation steps and short routines. Exercises focus on building strength and flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The course emphasis is on giving an insight of Authentic Jazz & Tap Dance technique, producing clear tap sounds, learning basic steps and having fun. The course is taught in an easygoing and supportive environment, designed as a getaway for the adult dancer. Beginners will be givien step by step instructions, and students with dance experience are also most welcome!.

What does this course cover

The course will include: Warm up, Cool Down and Stretch, history and origin of Tap dancing, musicality, basic foot work, dance sequences, learning a choreographed dance piece.

What will it be like

By the end of the course students will be able to
- Demonstrate learning basic Rhythm exercises and musicality dance sequences.
- Execute with confidence Tap steps including : Shuffle, Flap, Ball change, single, double, punch and triple Time steps.
- Perform a short Tap dancing routine
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
- Follow spoken instructions.
- Use numbers to recognise musical phrasing within dance.
- Work within groups and pairs safely.

What else do you need to buy or do

The classes must be undertaken with Tap shoes.

There is no work outside the class. The course will be taught verbally, through demonstration and with the use of music. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. Please wear clothing that does not restrict your movement and allows you to
adapt to changes in your body temperature.
