Pilates & Yoga – Start the Week Stretched and Strengthened
An introduction to improving body strength and flexibility by practising techniques from both Pilates and yoga. The course will cover improving standing posture, strengthening the abdominals and other muscles, flexibility, balance and relaxation.
Who is this course for
Suitable for beginners and those who wish to go back to basics.
What does this course cover
A mixture of Pilates and Yoga to help stretch and strengthen the body as well as aid balance and relaxation. By the end of the course students should be able to:
- Stand with more awareness of good posture
- Know how to practise a simple relaxation technique at home
- Confidently carry out some yoga postures to help improve flexibility and balance
- Confidently carry out some Pilates exercises to help improve strength and endurance.
What will it be like
There will be both standing and floor based work.
Tutor will be verbally and physically demonstrating the movements as the class join with her.
Tutor will be giving verbal feedback as well as visual feedback to correct their movements and postures.
At the start: Tutor observes technique, student self assessment
On the course: Combination of instructor and student assessment on the techniques and moves.
At the end: As above
What else do you need to buy or do
Mats and props are provided, Those who wish to have extra padding can bring a large towel. Students should wear loose comfortable clothing and avoid eating a for a couple of hours before class.
What this course could lead to
Continue with this course and/or enrol on a Pilates or yoga course.
Note: Places on the next term are not guaranteed, students who wish to continue must enrol in advance.
