This short course covers all you need to know about creating slide shows, notes and audience handouts, slide masters, templates, transitions, animation, organisation chart, inserting movies and sound plus other specialist features.

Who is this course for

This course is for people who may need to learn to use PowerPoint and create computerised slide shows or overheads for projection using this widely-used program it is ideal for students who wish to pursue a career in office computing. It is universally used in business.

Experience of working with Windows and File Management is essential.

PowerPoint Window; Open Save Files; Apply Themes; Slide Layouts; Text Slides - Select, Edit and Format; Bulleted Lists; Insert Graphic Objects (ClipArt & Chart); Views - Slide Sorter, Outline, Notes; Rulers, gridlines, Grid and Guides; Slide Transition Effects; Print - Slides, Notes and Handouts; Intro to Slide Shows; Intro to Slide Master; Slide Background and Colour Schemes; Spellchecker; Organisation and Chart Slides; Create Templates; Slide Show Operations; Animation Effects; Movies and Sounds; Action Buttons.

By the end of the course you should be able to:

What will it be like

Demonstration using Smartboard through computer-linked projectors, exposition and discussion. One-to-one and Group work. Through tutor-guidance and hands-on experience, the completion of the course objectives.
Ongoing monitoring of students' work including questions, observation and tasks. Start and End of class student self-assessment/achievement check box sheet.
Teaching methods: Visual demonstration and verbal explanation. Written handouts with visual diagrams. One-to-one teaching. Group discussions
Learning methods: Hands-on practical activities, Reading handouts and following instructions.
One-to-one and group discussion.
How students are assessed: Questions and answers during group discussions and one-to-one teaching.
Record of students' progress and achievement on an assessment sheet as they achieve the course objectives. Practical work produced is evidence of learning.

What else do you need to buy or do

Materials are supplied free of charge by the Centre.+ As much practice as possible to reinforce learning. This may be at home or elsewhere or from homework given by the tutor.
