A course to develop unique statement jewellery pieces

Who is this course for

This course is designed for learners with no previous knowledge of making jewellery and for those
wanting to broaden their skills. Students should be interested and inspired by using beads and wire to
create interesting and innovative pieces of statement/wedding jewellery. Please note, the technique requires some dexterity so please contact the centre if you are concerned about this.

What does this course cover

You will learn the main wire components for wedding jewellery and will then work on your own designs to create your own unique pieces with tutor support including

' tiara
' hair combs
' hair pins

What will it be like

Teaching methods:
' Visual demonstration and verbal explanation
' Written handouts with visual diagrams
' One-to-one teaching
' Group discussions
Learning methods:
' Hands on practical experience
' Reading handouts and following instructions
' One-to-one and group discussion

How will I be assessed?
Through self assessment, peer assessment and tutor assessment

What else do you need to buy or do

Please ensure you bring your glasses as there is a lot of close work.

What this course could lead to

You may choose to study another jewellery course, for example wirework or beading, or it may inspire you to study other Art, Design or the Performing Arts courses at the Mary Ward Centre (see prospectus).
