Yoga: Back To Basics

Suitable for beginners and those who wish to go back to basics. Experience for yourself how yoga can help improve posture, balance, strength and flexibility as well as calm the mind. Enjoy a mixture of basic yoga postures (asanas) to stretch and strengthen the body as well as guided relaxation to further quieten the mind.

Who is this course for

The course is aimed at students who are beginners or those with some experience who wish to go back to basics.

What does this course cover

This course will introduce students to a variety of lying, kneeling, seated and standing asanas (postures). You will be encouraged to participate at a level suitable for your current level of health and fitness and, when needed, alternatives to some of the asanas will be offered.
Classes will include:

- Gently preparing the body (e.g mobilising joints)
- A selection of asanas (postures)
- Breath awareness and relaxation

By the end of the course, with guidance, you should:
- be better aware of how your breathing can help to focus and calm your mind
- feel confident participating in a variety of basic yoga postures.
- be comfortable engaging in guided relaxation.

What will it be like

Wear loose comfortable clothing that does not restrict movements (sports top, loose sports trousers, T-shirts etc) and that does not restrict your breath. Standing practice is done barefoot (or with anti-slip socks if you prefer).

What else do you need to buy or do

A medical checklist/Par-Q needs to be filled by all prior to starting the course. Please consult your G.P. for advice and guidance if you have any medical conditions that might affect your ability to participate safely.

Regular attendance and commitment to the full duration of each class is important.
You should attend with an empty stomach or have waited at least 2 hours after a light snack before doing a yoga class
