Zumba – mixed ability
Have fun and keep fit. Zumba is a fusion of Latin American music and dances such as Salsa, Merengue and Cumbia mixed with simple aerobic and fitness steps. Suitable for all levels.
Who is this course for
The course is aimed at all levels and abilities. For beginners and those who want to learn a wider variety of steps and routines.
The Zumba class fuses mesmerising Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow dance steps combined with workout moves. Mixing all Latin genres of music with with all Latin styles of dance such as Salsa, Merengue, Mambo, Samba, Cha Cha Cha, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Flamenco even Bollywood. Zumba is all about the music, dancing, keeping fit and having fun!
What does this course cover
The students will learn basic and more advanced steps and combinations from a wide variety of different dance styles such as Salsa, Mambo, Samba, Cha Cha Cha, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Flamenco, Bollywood. The steps and sequences will range in difficulty from simple to more challenging.
1. Improved fitness and stamina
2. Have some knowledge in a variety of different dance styles of Zumba
3. Know and be able to repeat routines and steps
What will it be like
The tutor will lead the group in the learning of the Zumba styles but there will be some opportunity for the students to work as a group towards the end of the course to show knowledge of steps learnt
Students will be informally and verbally assessed by their progress in the learning and demonstrating of the routines. The students' progress will be demonstrated by their ability to demonstrate some steps and show improved fitness by being able to keep up with the class.
What else do you need to buy or do
Students will be required to bring comfortable clothing to dance and appropriate footwear.
Students will be encouraged to practise routines out of lessons
What this course could lead to
Students can progress to more difficult steps and sequences within the same class. Some students may wish to gain more experience by learning a particular dance style in more depth and progress to a dance course of a specific style of Zumba.
